To begin, there are many distinctions that many critics see between two types of music which are popular and serious music, they believe each have very different musical value. Arguments between musicologists and sociologists have stirred up a debate on how theses two types of music affect us. Musicologist stated that "serious music matters because it transcends social forces" as well they also stated "popular music is aesthetically worthless because is determined by them."
